Talkie has been one of the loudest products in the AI companion space recently, particularly on TikTok and short-form video. The bot-feed plus image generation plus voice combination is well-produced for the price, and the platform has a real audience. If you're looking for a Talkie alternative, it's almost certainly because you've used it for a few weeks and realised the fundamentals of the design are very similar to Chai or Character.AI: lots of characters, light continuity, novelty over depth.
What Talkie is, and what it does well¶
Talkie is a polished bot-feed product with a large catalogue of user-generated characters, voice features (the Buds in-app currency), and a small messaging bridge called Talkie Claw that's currently in members-only beta. The production quality is high for a product at its scale, the UI is friendly to casual users, and the catalogue grows fast (reviewers cite around fifty thousand new characters created daily, organised across Featured, Recommend, Anime & Game, Fiction & Media, and other categories).
The complaint most "Talkie alternative" searchers are dealing with isn't about quality. It's about shape: persistence, memory, and the way the product is structured around breadth.
Where Talkie users hit the wall¶

Talkie has added persistent-companion primitives over the last year. Recall (cross-session memory) is gated to Talkie+, and Soul Cards (pinned character traits) was meant to let you anchor a character's identity across chats. The catalogue is constantly refreshed with new characters and scenarios. For users who like that, it's engaging. For users who want to settle into one relationship, the novelty churn is a distraction. Image generation is part of the offering but reviewers describe the visual stack as generic with face drift across messages, not a clear strength of the product.
Pricing is multi-tier plus a Diamonds currency¶
Talkie's tiers are Free, Talkie+ (Standard), and a Talkie+ Pro tier announced as coming. Paid tiers gate chat quota, ad removal, Recall and memory caps, cloud-sync retention windows, edit capabilities, and chat-inspiration usage. On top of that there's an in-app Diamonds currency for premium voice (Buds) and Claw responses during beta. So the right framing is multi-tier subscription plus a separate currency layer, not just "pay more for more output".
Content policy tightening and an app-store interruption¶
Talkie was removed from Google Play and then restored in April-May 2026, with several features in a degraded state. The platform's content posture has visibly tightened toward family-friendly positioning, with stricter NSFW filtering and reports of surprise account bans. If you're sensitive to platform reliability, this is worth knowing.

When Talkie is still the better choice¶
If browsing a large character catalogue is the part you enjoy, Talkie's is bigger than ours (we don't have a public catalogue at all). If you publish characters on Talkie, that work doesn't transfer.
If your use case is "consume short interactions with many different characters" rather than "build a relationship with one", the bot-feed model is exactly right for you and we're the wrong shape.
